The Polo Ralph Lauren Pink Pony Campaign is an international initiative which aims to address the disparities in care for women with breast cancer.
The National Breast and Ovarian Cancer Centre (NBOCC) administers the Australian arm of the initiative by offering scholarships for nurses and community health workers employed in rural, regional and remote areas and seeding grants for community-based initiatives.
Since 2002, Polo Ralph Lauren has donated over $400,000 to the National Breast and Ovarian Cancer Centre. More than 175 nurses and community health workers have been awarded scholarships to improve their skills in caring for women with breast cancer in rural and regional Australia.
In 2004, the Polo Ralph Lauren Pink Pony Campaign introduced seeding grants to support innovative ideas to improve access to health and support services for women with breast cancer in medically-underserved areas. To date, 21 community-based organisations have been awarded seeding grant funding from the Polo Ralph Lauren Pink Pony Campaign.
