The symptoms you may experience may be caused by the cancer, or by the treatment for the cancer, or by any other illnesses you may have. Not all the symptoms you experience will be due to cancer. Some of the symptoms and conditions discussed in this chapter have been mentioned in previous chapters. This section will explain the treatment of these symptoms and conditions and provide practical suggestions to help you manage your symptoms. This is a comprehensive list of symptoms. You will not experience all of these symptoms. They are included as a reference because each woman will experience different symptoms. Always report new symptoms or any change in the severity of your symptoms to your doctor. The following symptoms and conditions will be discussed:

  • hypercalcaemia
  • tiredness
  • nausea and vomiting
  • loss of appetite
  • poor sleep
  • constipation
  • mouth ulcers
  • lymphoedema
  • immobility
  • distended or enlarged abdomen
  • breathing difficulties
  • headaches
  • change in thinking ability
  • pressure sores
  • incontinence of the bowel or bladder
